This was another great weekend for our juvenile athletes. The weather was hot and the cauldron that is Tullamore on day’s like this can sap the energy. All the more to cherish the performances with most of our athletes achieving ~PBs.

Under 14 – Here we had the top performer of the weekend with Matias Quaglia taking gold and silver. The silver came in the 80m sprint (10.07) on Saturday and then a clas performance in the 200m on Sunday won the gold with a PB of 24.31. Kate Maher was also going well. 10.97 for the 80m on Saturday and then 5th in the 200m final on Sunday with a PB of 27.33. Matha Bergin also had a PB in her 200m (28.13).

Under 15 – A gold by in form Molly Daly with a PB of 25.42 in the 200m. Having set aPB of 37.27 in the 250 hurdles heats another medal was on the cards. An unfortunate fall at the start of the final ruled that out but determined as ever she got up and  completed the race. Aoibhe Quinn ran the 100m in 13.51 and Amelie Foley had 4.29 in the long jump.

Under 16 – Our sole representative here was Louis Raggett who cleared 1.65 to finish 5th in the high jump.

Blaithin Holden clocked 52.29 in the 300m hurdles heat. This was not sufficient to get het to the final. It was a similar story for Liam thompson with 24.83 in his 200m heat. Ruairi McEvoy and Paddy Kelly had good runs in the 3000m. Ruairi finished 8th and Paddy came 11th. Both had PBs – their respective times for the distance were Ruairi 9.56.20 and Paddy 10.12.11. William Nugent was in the 400m. He exited the heat in 57.36. Alex Cullen placed 5th in the high jump with 1.65.
