We were back in Tullamore again today for another round of the “Leinsters”. The results were much the same if not better. With a considerably fewer athletes involved the medal count was excellent – two gold, four silver and four bronze. Alex Cullen added a 3rd in high jump to yesterdays two. In under 15 Amelie Foley, fresh to the competition had a silver in long jump and bronze in 100m. Conor Byrne winded up the weekend with gold in triple jump and fourth in 100m. Abbie O’Brien collected a bronze in 250m hurdles. Jennifer Oboh had a good day to finish 4th in 100m undeer 16. Mateuz Balcer cleared 1.70 to win silver in the high jump and Eoin Deely was 6th in the 800m. This was a day to remember for Tara McGuire – 5th in Shot (9.04) but a fantastic run in the 250 hurdles to win the bronze. Under 18 athlete Jennifer was 2nd in the high jump – her third silver of the weekend plus 5th in the 200m.
In the under 19s we had silver and gold – silver for Kevin Burns after a fine battlein the 3000m steeplechase and gold for Annie MaEvoy in the 1500m (4.51.59). Well done all.
