Once again our athletes were busy over the weekend.
SANTRY this year’s national seniors were held in Santry over three days because of the covid. Our ahtletes performed well with pride of place going to Cliodhna Manning. Proving that she has overcome her long standing injury she ran 55.73 in her 400m heat to qualify comfortably for the final. She gave Phil Healy a run for her money in the final with an improved time of 53.18 to win the silver. Eoin Everard ran the 1500 and qualified for the final with 3.56.30. In the final he placed 6th in 3.51.04. Jack Manning competed in the 200 and the 400 clocking 21.96 and 49.24respectively. Ciara Deely in her first national 800m finished 4th in her heat in 2.14.36. Gerry Forde represented us in the 10,000m final and did so in an excellent time of 32.08.44. The Junior 3000m was held in conjunction with the seniorsand Cathal O’Reilly turned in a fine run to finish 9th in 8.50.57. Well done all.
KILCOCK Grace Richardson travelled to Kilcock for St Coca’s annual 5k Road Race. Her time for the race was 17.33 – a PB.
SCANLON PARK –We had DAY 3 of the county championships in Scanlon Park on Saturday 26th. There was a good representation from the club with many excellent performances. Some twentynine medals were won including sixteen gold of which two were won by Under 15 athlete, Louis Raggett. Medal winners were as follows:- Under 14 – Cormac Holden 1/hurdles, 2/800; Liam Keogh 3/800; Clodagh O’Callaghan 1/800; Ruth Crowley 1/hurdles, 2/100; Molly Daly 1/100; Aoibhe Quinn 3/100; Eoin Moore 2/100. Under 15 – Grace Delahunty 1/100, Louis Raggett 1/Shot, 1/Hurdles; Patrick Lacey 1/100; Hannah Quinn 2/100. Under 16 – Blaithin Holden 1/hurdles; William Nugent 1/100, 3/Shot; Ruairi McEvoy 3/800; Louisa Gilmore 1/800; Liam Thompson 2/100; Aoibhe Healy 2/100. Under 17 – Isabelle Bourke 1/800; Harry Boyle 2/Triple Jump; Abbie O’Brien 1/Triple Jump;Orla Kenny 2/Triple jump. U18/19 – Tara McGuire 1/Shot; Eleanor Godden 1/800; Seniors – Meabh Maher 1/800; Caoilfhionn Ni Hargain 2/800.
Then we had DAY 4, again in Scanlon Park, on Sunday 27th. Another good day for our athletes who, between them, collected some 35 medals (12 gold, 13 silver, 10 bronze). Top of the silverware was Louisa Gilmore with two gold – 400m and long jump. Louisa led a clean sweep in the under 16 long jump with Blaithin holden and Caoimhe O’Connor taking silver and bronze respectively. The under 15 girls also had a clean sweep inthe long jump with EllaWalll, Hannah Quinn and Georgina Geoghegan. RESULTS :- Under 14 – Molly Daly 1/400; Diarmuid Behan 1/long jump; Laura Leahy 2/300; David Long 2/long jump; Conor Ryan 3/long jump; Ruairi Hanrahan 3/Javelin; Aine Foley 2/long jump; Sarah Richardson 3/long jump.
