At the Leinster Pairs competition in Tullamore, there were some mighty performances from our under 9, 10 and 11 boys and girls. There was double gold, in 60m sprint and long jump, for under 9 pair of Tom Henderson and Robert Cullen. Ryan Farrell and Conor Henderson also did well in the 60m but struck bronze medals with great runs in the 300m. Kara Canavan and Ellen Daly were also in fine form. Competing in under 9 girls they took the gold in the 300m and bronze in the long jump. Mathias Quaglia and Tiernan O’Brien were in fine fettle in the under 10 sprint. A combined time of 18.80 saw them win the gold. Paul Millea 10.03 and Charlie Lyons 10.09 were not far of the pace. Paul Millea also paired with Robert Lacey to take the gold in the 500m with both clocking under 1.40.00. Under 11 Pair, Eoin Moore and Oisin Henderson, placed second in the 60m and fourth in the long jump. Oisin’s time of 8.92 was the second fastest of the competition over the distance. The second under 11 pair of Luke Browne 9.75 and James O’Brien 9.77 were also impressive. Best in the 60m for the under 11 girls was Ruth Crowley with a time of 9.76 while in the 600m Molly Daly had a good time of 1.57.46.
