KCH were well represented by athletes from the local secondary schools at this year’s Leinster track and field held over two days Wednesday and Saturday. St Kierans College were stong in the mid distance races with all athletes scoring personal bests in their respective events. Shay McEvoy took the gold in the senior 1500m (3.54.95). Also in senior were Kevin Burns, 4/Steeplechase(6.23.70), LukeWhelan 10/5000(17.16.43). Intermediate John Muldowney 7/3000 (9.51.84), Cathal Kearney 7/800 (2.09.29), Junior – Tom Lodge 2/1500 (4.24.49), Minor – Sean Young 7/800 (2.33.38). Annie McEvoy starred for Loreto with silver in 3000 (10.29.32). Jennifer Leahy- intermediate- had double bronze – 300m hurdles (47.41) and high jump (1.53). Juniors Orla Kenny 6/triple jump (9.13) and 4th in 4×100 relay with Amelie O’Brien, Ella Dunphy, and Claire Doheny. Blaithin Holden – minor – was 4th in long jump (4.97). Tara McGuire representing Presentation was second in junior Shot. Rory McGabhan, Kilkenny College, joined an elete group with a 2m clearance in the high jump which earned him senior silver.
