Our ladies did us all proud at the Leinster Novice and Masters Road Races in a sun-drenched road in Gowran today. Outstanding performers were our O/50s ladies team. Individual first and third places by Niamh Richardson and Cathy Millett respectively. In combination with Irene Henebry and Dympna Kelly, they were first club and first county. The ladies O/35 were not far behind in their achievements. Donna Dowling won individual silver and herself and Barbara Rossiter were early scorers on the county team which placed second. The other team members were Joan Martin, Kate Millea and Joya Burns.

There was early disappointment for our Novice Ladies to discover they were one short. Not-withstanding they got on with the business and were the first three scorers on the county team that won bronze. Order of finishing was Orla McPhillips 7th, Catriona Muldowney, who earlier in the day ran the Carer’s Race in Kilkenny, 13th and Caoimhe Foley 14th.

The Master’s Men also showed well and packing closely for much of the race they finished in 6th place. Team members were Conor Bolger 23, Paul Moran 29, Ken Maher 30, Graham Bourne 39 and Ed O’Keeffe 48.
