KCH athletes made the trip to Athlone to take on tough competition at the national Junior and u23 championships. A small field of athletes made the trip with some fantastic performances and some unfortunate events.

Annie O’Connor took on the 800m claiming the bronze medal after a well fought race. Adam Fitzpatrick was out in the 1500m and was very unfortunate leading into the last bend with 20 metres to go the gold medal in sights was accidently tripped and went down.

Ciara Deely defending 400m champion led from the start seeing off her competition to defend her title and set a new PB of 55.14. Lauren Gleeson and Jack Manning both competed in their respective 60m races. Lauren qualified for the final coming 5th in the final. Well done to all athletes for travelling and giving their best in Athlone.

Thanks to both coaches and parents for the commitment they give to ensuring all athletes are at their best.
