Great weather, great location and a great day’a athletics at Grangemouth stadium the national athletics stadium of Scotish athletics. Right from the gun the competition matched the weather, hot. Up first in the late morning for KCH and Ireland was Rory. Excitement was palpable. In front of a supportive crowd, the bar was quickly raised to 1.96m. This proved too much for Rory so soon after his All Ireland win. Second place to the guest jumper in his first international outing and claiming full points for the team is quite a feat. Early afternoon saw Shay take to the track in the 3000m. In a very tight race, there were only metres between the athletes until the bell. The last lap was fast, furious and not without its rough and tumble. A skirmish inside the last 150 m meant Shay had to retake the lead which he did. He held the lead over the line coming first and claiming top points for the team. Well done to both KCH athletes on a fantastic performance. No doubt more to come from both these athletes but for now, we turn our heads to Berlin and the European Championships.
