There was big support from KCH for the Mile Marker this year with more than forty club members involved in either 5K, 5 mile or 10 mile. And there many front runners from the club also. In the 5K Colm Smyth was second overall. Rory Lehane was first O/50. Juveniles Emma Kelly was first girl and Kai Whelan was second boy. Nicky Flynn was second O/60. KCH were well represented at the Leinsters in Carlow this weekend - particularly in U20 and Masters. Top of the bill was Graham Bourne with five number 1s including a CBP. It was a very successful weekend for our athletes who were competing on foreign shores. Cathal O'Reilly took part in the British Milers Club race in Bermingham. Running the 5000m he finsihed 3rd in an d excellent PB time of 14.04.04. Cliodhna Manning ran the 400m in Belgium where she took first place - again an excellent time of 52.88. Keeping the good wine until last it was Molly Daly who crowned the weekend. Competing in the 200m at the EYOF in Wetzlar, Germany she was first across the finish line. What a busy day in Tullamore today. Big crowds and fierce competition with heats, heats and more heats - followed by semifinals and finals in the sprint events - a lot of running to be done if you were a medal contender or even close to being in the final. In the U9 long jump Niamh Hoyne 4th and Grace Healy 9th brought the pair into third place - Leinster Medals and still under nine! Grace and Aoibhe Richardson, back on home ground for a while, took on the Women's Mini Marathon. And they did it in style - Grace showed a clean pair of heels to the huge contingent to cross the finish line to claim first place in 34.17. Aoibhe finished in fourth in 35.03. With the Richardsons out in force those two were followed shortly after by sister Ella and Mother Niamh. Also wearing the KCH colours was Gretta Beckett who finished in 51.10. It was very much a "golden" day for the Loreto Girls at today's Schools Athletics finals in Tullamore. Pia Langton won the senior 800 in 2.07.16. Kate Maher had a PB in the Intermediate 300 which she won in convincing fashion in 39.43 and there was further gold for Ella Wall, Grace Delahunty and Molly Daly as they brought the senior 4x300 relay record (2.49.45) to Loreto Kilkenny.
