It was back to Athlone today for the final day of the indoors - mainly the relays but also some field events. Daniel McIntyre competing in U12 high jump finished in 4th place.  The relays were a mixed bag of results - one not finishing, one disqualified, two championship records and a number qualifying for finals but finishing outside medals. Three of our US based athletes were in action over the weekend. Maebh Richardson (Portland) competed in the 5000m at the  Stanford Invitational, California, finishing in 16.10.06. Shay McEvoy (Tulsa) had a PB in the 10000m at the same venue. His PB time was 28.22.95. Peter Lynch travelled form his base in North Carolina to compete in the Cherry Blossom 10 mile in Washington. Running at a fine pace throughout he finished in 45.59 leaving a number of more fancied athletes in his wake. Not only was this a massive PB for Peter it is also a national record previously [...]

Another busy and successful weekend for our athletes at the national juvenile indoors in TUS, Athlone. While there were many outstanding results pride of place goes to under 14 athlete, Conor Knox. Conor won the long jump and placed fourth in both high jump and shot. Also winning gold was Jasmine Timmons McEneaney in the 60m sprint. And then there was Aisling Phelan with silver in 60m and 200m. Kate Maher was also in the medals with bronze in the 200m. There were other fourth place finishes for Isabella Quaglia in shot, Fiach Crowley in long jump and Eoghan O'Farrell [...]

Well done to our five athletes who ran the inaugural Dublin half marathon - Roseanna Knox (1.32.19), Trevor Spillane (1.34.32), Anita Byrne (1.32.52), Leanne Butler (1.31.32) and Annemarie Shortall (1.44.00). 

After a number of weather related cancellations the 2024 county O/35 cross country went ahead in Thomastown tonight. KCH with a small number of athletes involved scored second team in the ladies led home by Oonagh Guilfoyle in bronze medal position.  The men fared somewhat better to take team gold with Paddy Walsh winning individual silver. As  a consequence of the additional points (5) KCH with 32 points claim the senior cross country cup for 2024. St Joseph's were second with 19 and Gowran third with 18. This was a busy weekend for the club with big numbers taking part in the Leinster Indoors in Athlone. Athletes competed in walks, 60 and 200 sprints, 400, 800 and 1500, shot, long jump and high jump. The athletes had good parental support with a number volunteering for officiating at various events, thereby allowing team managers to organise the athletes. Saturday produced a large number of PBs and a considerable number of medals. The story on Sunday was similar. Among the medals winners were:- Under 12 Daniel McIntyre 2nd high jump (1.25). While most of the focus was on Indoors there was still plenty activity on the roads. KCH had runners in Thomastown and Bohermeen. In Thomastown John Murphy and Rosie Alcorn ran the 10k. Their respective times were 50.23 and 51.11. Sean O hArgain did the 15k in 1.16.30. Up in County Meath we had six taking part in the Bohermeen half marathon with four clocking PB's for the event - Mike Cullen 1.21.51, David FitzGerald 1.27.00, Claire Dermody 1.27.28 and Stephen Walsh 1.49.16. Also taking part were Lisa Collins 1.33.58 and David Wilson 1.49.16.

This year's Schools All-Ireland was held in Ballybrit, Galway. A small number of club members were involved and all produced good performances. Sinead Cormack 16th, Clodagh O'Callaghan 33rd and Ellen Cormack 68th were part of the Presentation team that placed second in Intermediate Girls. In Intermediate Boys Kyrell Mtinsi, St Kieran's was 15th. Top run of the day was by another St Kieran's, Ruairi McEvoy. Ruairi running in senior boys placed 4th. Well done all.
