Our juveniles have been looking outward in recent times as athletes are being selected for international events.
SCHOOLS
Patrick Wall and Victor Lamph were selected for the SIAB on The Mary Peters track in Belfast. Both represented their respective schools with quality performances. Victor clocked a PB of 48.32 when winning the 400m and Patrick had a time of 58.36 to win 4th place in the 400m hurdles. The Irish Schools 4x400m were second and both received silver medals as the team were second behind England and in front of Scotland and Wales.
EUROPEAN
The Irish Under 18 team are in Rieti, Italy competing in the European team championships. Kate Maher had achieved the 400m standard and was selected as a non travelling sub.
WORLD
The world Under 20 championships are being held in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Three from KCH achieved the qualifying standard and were selected for the U20 team – Pia Langton (800 & 1500), Molly Daly (400) and Kate Maher (400 – again as a non travelling sub). Unfortunately Molly, having sustained an injury, was unable to prove fitness and a as a consequence Kate now travels as a full member of the team.
Well done to the athletes, coaches, managers and family members for the years of training and support to enable these athletes to achieve such high standards.
