Well done to all our athletes competing in the National Seniors in Santry this weekend. The weather didn’t make it easy for athletes with both wind and rain. It was a unwelcome outcome for Cliodhna Manning. Running in lane 8 in the 400m final she was in a commanding position approaching the final bend. A stab of pain in leg muscle led to her pulling up on the finishing straight – a massive disappointment. Jack Manning had a busy and satisfactory competition. He qualified for the 100m semifinal which he ran in 11.24. He clocked 22.65 in the 200m and 48.98 in the 400m. Aaron Barron ran his 400m in 51.72. Adam Slawinski made his debut at senior championship with 23.21 in the 200m. Cathal O’Reilly was in action on both days in the 1500m. Second in the semifinal on Saturday in 3.58.09 he placed 7th in Sunday’s final in 3.49.13. Billy Coogan took on the steeplechase where he finished 5th in 9.21.29. Jamie Gahan had to be well satisfied with his performance in the 5000m. Running in the B race he finished second in 14.59.57 – some 22 seconds improvement in his PB. Well done all.
