After all the rain and Lorenso gone and largely forgotten today was sunny all through for the staging of the Even Ages CC Championships in Ballycurran. Despite having a bus laid on there was a small turnout from the club but as the saying goes “good goods in small parcels”. Victory in the under 8 Boys with Darragh O’Callaghan striking gold Aoibhinn Lacey winning silver in their respective races got us off to a good start. Teamwise it was the under 10s who proved the most impressive with both teams winning medals Girls gold and Boys bronze. The under 12 girls won gold and also had a team in 5th and the boys would certainly have medalled IF they had a team – just three runners and all ran well. Moving to the under 14s there was a good turnout for the girls but they didn’t get up to the pace of the race. The boys u14 won silver with a really fine performance by Ruairi McEvoy to win individual gold. Boys U16 with Tom Lodge in silver position won team bronze. In the final juvenile race KCH had its fifth individual juvenile gold with Dylan McLaughlin.
KCH adults were few in number – two ladies and one man – with the ladies in flying form. Niamh Richardson won gold and Maria Cormack won bronze while Noel Maher carrying the flag for the men placed 9th..
