After a heavy nights rain the sun came out for the uneven cross-country championships in Castlecomer today. And it wasn’t just the sun that came out. Our athletes were out in force particularly in the younger ages – Under 9s and under 10s had 29 and 28 athletes respectively – well done. And great results also ranging from Ella O’Flaherty 1st under 9 to Cathy Millett 1st Over 50. Kate Maher had a fine run to take the individual gold in girls under 11. Boys under 17 had a clean sweep with Shay McEvoy, Kevin Burns and Cathal Kearney placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In the team scoring we had six teams getting in the medals –  Under 17 boys won gold, Under 15 boys, Under 11 girls and Under 11 boys won silver; Under 13 boys and under 13 girls won bronze.
