Jun 09 Pia + The Mile Marker

Pia Langton had a useful workout in Spain. Taking part in the Catalan Championships in Palafrugell she placed second in the 800m. THE MILE MARKER Some good times in the Danesfort Mile Marker today. 5K - 1st Paddy Kelly in 17.16. Another great day of competition for and by our juvenile athletes. Ten teams brought medals home - 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze and that wasn't all. Our under 9 boys set a new 4x100 championship record of 1.07.46 . The previous record was set by our U9 boys in 2017. Apart from the under 18 girls who won their medals in the 4x400 all the others were in 4x100 relays. An enjoyable day in Tullamore today for the Leinster Combined Events - a new experience for all our participating juveniles. The U12 Tri Event - Four of our athletes sampled this and were successful with Bella Quaglia placing 4th, Ellen Ryan 6th and Ella O'Flaherty 8th. For the boys Caelan Bambrick also placed 6th. U13 Quadrathon - Two athletes represented the club at U13 - Conor Knox and Daniel Greene. Conor was superb. Juvenile competition moved up a step this weekend with the U9, 10 and 11 pairs and U12/13 individual championships. UNDER 9 - Seven of our U9s got their taste of Leinster competition today. Cian McIntyre and Jonah Cleere made a serious mark in the long jump with Cian placing 1st and Jonah 4th. Their respective achievements were 3.43 and 3.18. Lauren Millea and Maebh Brennan also did well in the long jump. Cian and Jonah also impressed in the 60m sprint clocking under 11 seconds as did Amenze Victor. May 31/Jun 01 – Schools All-Ireland

This weekend brought the schools track and field season to a close. Finally with the weather starting to look like summer the athletes had an opportunity to enjoy the downtime alongside the competing.  KCH had nine athletes competing in individual events. Six of them won medals - Alex Cullen, CBS, was the star performer winning gold in the senior 400m hurdles and silver in the 110m hurdles. Also from CBS was Billy Coogan who won silver in the 3000m steeplechase. Friday night was a major test of Billy's stamina as he also ran the 5000m where he placed fourth.  Four [...]
