Today was a special day called a Day of PBs. Non-competitive but a chance to test yourself on the track. Two KCH athletes had a go at the 5K and proved equal to the task with each achieveing new PBs - Dylan McLaughlin 16.37 and Padraig Ruane 16.44.

July 26 More On The Road

Another road race today. This time its the Grange/Fermoy 4 Mile Invitational. Four Harriers made the trip and made some impression also. Eoin Everard was first across the finish line in 19.05, followed closely in 19.07 and in second place was Brian Maher. Toss Hayes clocked 19.36 to finsih 6th and Grace Richardson made it home in 25.16. Well done all.

Covid 19 is still with us. Nothing happening on the track. Some action on the "road". Dylan McLaughlin took the road to Nurney for the "Return to Racing 5K". And a good job he made of it too. Completing the course in 17.05 he placed 10th. Well done young man.

Feb 07 Schools CC Final

Loreto Secondary School and St Kieran's College gave a good account of themselves at the All-Ireland Schools cross-country in Santry today. Loreto Senior girls powered by Thomastown duo Hannah O'Keeffe and Aine Kirwan plus Annie McEvoy (KCH), brought home the gold. St Kieran's didn't strike gold but their presence was felt across the course - Minor boys 4th with a huge effort from Ruairi McEvoy 14th; Intermediate boys won bronze with Tom Lodge and Eoin Deely involved; Senior boys also bronze with Shay McEvoy 3rd, Kevin Burns 29th, Cathal O'Reilly 33rd and John Muldowney 37th.  Meanwhile down in Cork Grace Richardson [...]

Mar 01 Everards Go Indoors

Ciara Everard and Eoin Everard were very much in evidence at the National Senior Indoor Championships in Abbotstown at the weekend. Ciara, running in the colours of UCD,  went in the 1500 on Saturday comfortably won the semi-final in 4.46.15. She ran a great race in Sunday's final and upping the pace to 4.40.78 was just pipped on the line. On Saturday Eoin did the 3000 in 8.26.55 to qualify in 4th place for Sunday's final. The final was hotly contested and Eoin ran well to finish in 5th place. His final time was  8.10.44. Well done Everards.

Feb 28/29 American Indoor Conference

Peter Lynch, representing University of Tulsa, had a fine weekend at this year's American Indoor Athletic Conference in Bermingham, Alabama. Finishing 5th in both 5000m and 3000m races he showed considerable improvement on his performances at the 2019 Conference. This year's times 14.21.42 for the 5K and 8.10.85 for the 3K compare very favourably with the 14.35.12 and 8.27.84 achieved in 2019.

Feb 28 County Kilkenny Awards

2019 was a very successful year for KCH across many disciplines within the county. This was evidenced by the many awards presented to the club at the County Kilkenny Awards night in the Set Theatre, Langton's tonight. These included Juvenile Track and Field Shield, Indoor Track and Field Shield, Senior Men Cross Country Cup, Senior Track and Field Cup, County Roads Shield, Ladies O/30Cross Country Shield, Men O/35 Cross Country Shield, Intermediate Ladies Cross Country Shield, Overall Cross Country Cup.  Harry Boyle was presented with an award to recognise his CBP in the U15 Leinster Triple Jump. Feb 23 Relay Action in Abbotstown

Relay competition brings a different buzz from individual events. It also gives athletes who may be on the margins an opportunity to get their hands on the coveted Leinster medal. KCH brought eighteen teams - 11 girls teams and 7 boys teams - to this year's Leinster Indoor Relay championships. Ten of those teams qualified through the heats for their respective finals and Eight of those teams won medals - Two gold, Three silver and Three bronze. Feb 22 Shay Sets 3000m Record

Shay McEvoy, taking a break form his cross-country runs, took the Leinster Junior 3000m Indoor title in Abbotstown today. And he took it in style with a new CBP of 8.24.94. Major congratulations. Joya Burns competing in the Masters O40 won gold in the 60m hurdles, bronze in weight for Distance and placed 4th in the Long Jump. Kate Millea was also competing in the O40s and scored two silver - 60m hurdles and 1500m. She also had 4th in the 800m. Orla McPhillips placed 11th in the senior 800m. Well done all.
