Club juveniles travelled in numbers and gained a wealth of experience at the national cross country relays in Abbottstown today. First up were the under 11s. The girls teams placed 15th (Winter Rose Molloy, Isobel Hoyne, Jane Byrne, Edie Kemple) and 23rd (Caoimhe Malone, Sadie Murphy, Aoibhin Behan, Lucy Maher, Nora Carroll) in a huge field of 35 teams. Oct 12 Cross Country Shield Stays

Day 2 of the county cross country championships were held today in Ballycurran Cross With many travelling to Dublin tomorrow numbers competing today were down. However with first team finishes by Boys U11 and Girls U17 KCH were top club with 29 points and retain the cross country juvenile shield for another year. While cross country is hotting up so too is marathon preparation. This weekend we have reports on two from the road. Lorcan O'Toole had a PB of 3.28.46 in the Lisbon marathon. Likewise for David Wilson with 1.32.28 in The Fastlane half marathon.

The cross country championships got under way today with the juvenile even ages and Novice championships in Castlecomer. For KCH this was an excellent opening day. For the juveniles there were 13 individual medals in the championship races - 7 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. The teams had 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. The adults were also impressive with the novice ladies having 1st, 2nd and 3rd individuals plus 1st and 2nd teams. The Orange weather forecast for the South East led to the cancellation of Sunday's first round of the County Kilkenny cross country championships in Ballycurran. However there was plenty of action on the roads - both near and far. On Saturday Mossy Roantree took first place in the Ballycallan 10K in 36.18. On Sunday at the Naas 5k Gretta Beckett was 4th female and first over 40 in 23.23. Sept 22 St Senan’s Open CC

It's like the good old days once again with our juveniles travelling with teams to Kilmacow for the St Senan's Open CC and bringing home the Cup for the best juvenile club. Contributing to the win were Girls under 12 1st team, Girls under 14 2nd team and boys under 14 1st team. Sept 14/15 Cross Country Opens

To kickstart the cross country season the club had minor representation in two open cc events this weekend. At the Newbridge open on Saturday Daniel Greene took gold in the under 14 race while the younger Sam Greene had a good workout in the under 10 race. On Sunday the action was in the Moyne open where Daniel Quinn, with club mates Donagh and Finn had a good workout in the under 11 race. Daniel excelled to take the silver.
