What a weekend of excitement! Saturday 25th April saw crowds descend on London for Sunday's London Marathon with some 60,000 or thereabouts entered for the race. Among them was our own Peter Lynch who now wears the "elite" tag. But he wears it lightly and when he runs a marathon he is an elite runner. This, his fourth marathon, was no exception except that he was just brilliant. Three areas of action this weekend Shay McEvoy was running in the Bryan Clay Invitational - running in the 10k he finished 15th in a fine time of 28.30.30. The Intervarsities in Cork had three club members competing. Hannah Kehoe, UCD, won gold in the 1500m (4.36.46). Paddy Kelly, SETU, was 9th in the 3000m steeplechase(10.32.11) setting a SETU record for the event. Ruairi McEvoy, DCU, was 4th in the 5000m (14.57.21). There were a few athletes testing the distance! - David Wilson ran the Sonia O'Sullivan Cobh 10 mile. His time 1.12.50. Gillian Kavanagh was in the Phoenix Park for the Great Ireland 10K Run. She clocked 47.49. Over in Milan, Italy, Tara Brett ran the 13K leg of the Milan Marathon Relay in 1.02.00.

What a great event is The Streets of Kilkenny! The Entries  were hardly open when it was sold out this year. Demand was such that spare numbers were in huge demand leading up to the event. Many thanks to all involved - Members of the organising committee, Volunteers on the night, our important sponsors (including Peugeot), the race entrants  and of course all the supporters on the night.  Race Results  KCH had 135 runners in the race and in the Peugeot Race Series our team placed 2nd. Mar 28/29 Three Golds in W/E Action

ATHLONE Most of the action was at the National juvenile indoor finals in Athlone. KCH had three gold medal finishes including two Championship Records. Fiach Crowley took the first gold with a PB of 23.76 in the U16 60m hurdles. The two Championship records came via Victor Lamph in U18 400m (PB 48.97) and Molly Daly in U19 400 (54.25). Clodagh O'Callaghan won bronze in the 800 U19 (2.13.51). RESULTS U13 - Aaron Tyrrell 5/600 (PB 1.41.08); Daniel McIntyre 6/long jump (4.36), 1/60m hurdles. Mar 21 Leinster Star Awards

The Woodford Dolmen Hotel in Carlow hosted this year's Leinster Star Awards tonight. KCH were honoured with three club members being selected as the County Kilkenny Athletic Stars of 2025. Aisling Phelan received Juvenile female athlete award, Conor Knox Juvenile male athlete and Callum Barron Senior athlete. The club was also awarded the The Mick Quinn Memorial cup for best U12-15 age group.

These last few days have seen a lot of action on the roads around the country. KCH sampled three of these and turned in many great runs including a raft of PBs.  This was particularly evident at the Dunboyne 10K on Sunday where Callum Barron took first place in 31.58. Eamomn O'Connor scored a fine PB of 33.59. Other PBs came from Darragh Stone 39.03, Fergus Horan 39.12 and Tomaz Jarzabek 39.30.  At the Kilsheelin 10M on ST Patrick's Day Rory Conlon had a PB of 1.06.58 while Matthew Warren finished in 1.16.14. Mar 14/15 A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER

This weekend was a joy for all in KCH or indeed for anyone associated with the club or having an interest in athletics. It started with the U20's national indoors with Molly Daly (400m) and Pia Langton (1500m). Both won gold in their respective events, set new championship records and in the process qualified for the World juniors. That was on Saturday.
