Suddenly it was summer. At last fine weather for two days made for an enjoyable weekend on the track in Carlow for the U20/U23/Senior/ Masters Leinster track and field. KCH had eighteen athletes competing ranging in age from youngest Ellen Daly U17 to our oldest Noel Murphy O/65. Between them they won over twenty medals with the Masters Women and Men scoring in multiple events. With little track action this weekend a few club members travelled in different directions to test themselves on the road. Among those are the following:- Stoneyford 10K - 1. James Ledingham 33.24; 4 Paddy Kelly 35.41; Shea Roddy 38.10; Trevor Charters andSean O'Hargain. Stonetford 5K - Among the finishers were Mealla Crowley, Harry Healy, Conor Laurence Delaney, Eva Ledingham and James Healy. Thomas Jarzabeck (Fastlane 10K - 38.57 PB); National 5K:-Will Fox 16.06, Ger Forde 16.52, Leanne Butler19.27; Jill Kavanagh 22.31. And one omitted heretofore Claire Dowling(Toronto Marathon -sub 4 and PB).

May 10 Day 2 County T&F

Day 2 of the County Kilkenny Track and Field Championships proved another successful day for the club. There were over 80 individual medals won by club members - over thirty being gold and twelve relay teams won medals - five taking first place. Special mention for the U14 boys whose relay teams came  first, second and third. Two U16 athletes claimed three gold medals on the day - Jack O'Neill in Long jump, triple jump and javelin and Kelly Charters in 100m, high jump and shot. May 10 On The Road

 A number of our distance people were out on the road over the weekend. Five took part in the BK Dundrum 5K. A fine performance by Jamie Gahan saw him take first place in 15.06. Dermot Hyland and Darragh Stone had PBs with 18.00 and 18.22 respectively. Shay Roddy finished in 17.14 and Rory Lehane in 18.35. Meanwhile John Behan had a fine run in the Ballinroad 5k finishing in 16.12. Trevor Spillane was in Clonmel for the Clonmel mile which he ran in 5.33. Well done all.

Some seven club members travelled to Belfast today for the Irish Milers Club event on the Mary Peters track.  RESULTS Ellen Daly 200m 25.28; Molly Daly 400m 54.52; Pia Langton 1500m 4.23.02; Cathal O'Reilly 1500m 3.43.12; Callum Barron 3000m 8.52.72; Myles Hewlett 1500m 3.58.69;Ruairi McEvoy 1500m 3.58.58.

While the large numbers were enjoying the competition in Scanlon Park many others were out on the road testing their stamina. The largest number headed to Limerick - some for the marathon, others for the half. The marathon - PBs for Rory Conlon 3.05.05 and Trevor Spillane 3.10.35. Other times were Matthew Warren 3.15.38, Annemarie Shortall 3.48.35, Oonagh Guilfoyle 3.50.24, and Paula Hynes 4.16.53. May 02 Leinster Road Champions

Two strong teams- strong in number and strong in ability- took part in the Leinster Road Novice Championships which were held in Gowran today. And they didn't disappoint as both were first club team in their respective races. The ladies race was over three kilometers and Aoife Nolan (11.22) in 4th place led the team in. Caoilfhinn Ni Argain was 6th (12.00), Robyn McDonald 7th (121.36), Katie Matthews 9th (13.05), Kate Millea 10th (13.36) and Casey Lalor 11th (13.54). Day 1 of the County Kilkenny track and field championships were held in Scanlon Park today. In all over thirty events, covering juvenile, junior, senior and masters were held with club members competing in most. Medals were won in all except for Boy's Discus and Men's javelin. In individual events club members won 115 medals(49 gold, 37 silver and 29 bronze). There was also considerable success in the juvenile relays with ten (5 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze)sets of medals coming to the club. There were many outstanding performances. May 2/3 Molly in Botswana

The Irish relay squads were in Gabarone, Botswana, competing against the world's best with a view to getting qualification for the World Relay championships. Our own Molly Daly was on the panel and running the third leg of the 4x400 on Saturday the team placed 4th bringing them into Sunday's repechage where they duly gained qualification. Wearing the Irish singlet in senior competition Molly made it the third generation of her family to represent Ireland in international athletic competition. She follows in the footsteps of her mother Fiona Norwood, her father Rob Daly and grandfather Robert Norwood. [...]

Seven KCH members took part in The Irish Milers Club event today and all seven returned with PBs and one Pia Langton also gained the U20 world standard for the 800 finishing 2nd in 2.05.87. Other 800 results were Cathal O'Reilly 1st in 1.50.19, Hannah Kehoe 2.10.41 and Clodagh O'Callaghan 2.12.40. There were PBs in the 4oo with Patrick Wall 51.73, Cathal Rossiter 54.63 and Kate Maher 56.12.
