Jun 01 Shay and Annie medal in Schools


KCH had six athletes competing in the Schools All-Ireland in Tullamore today. All acquitted themselves well with Shay McEvoy, St Kierans, winning silver in 1500 (3.54.81) and Annie McEvoy, Loreto,winning bronze in 3000 (10.35.38). Tara McGuire, Presentation, placed 8th in Shot (9.39). Tom Lodge, St Kierans, was 4th in Junior 1500 (4.22.49). Jennifer Leahy, Loreto, was 7th in senior high jump (1.55) and Rory McGabhann, Kilkenny College, was 4th in High Jump (1.85).

May 31 Seniors Win T&F Championships


Day 4 of the County Track and Field Championships marked a significant achievement for the club. Fot  a number of years our F4L ladies dabbled in the championships but not in significant numbers. This year was different thanks to Kate Millea and Declan Walshe who motivated the F4L athletes and also Pat Purcell who trained the Cto5. With the enthusiasm generated by these groups some twenty plus Harriers took part. May 26 Leinster Relays in Leixlip


Oh to be in Leixlip when the Harriers are running the relays!!. Another great day for our juveniles. A very busy day for club officials  With 22 teams competing  KCH had 16 teams qualifying for the 4x100m Relay finals. Eight of them won medals and the other eight were not very far away. There was gold for Under 10 boys, Under 11 boys, Under 12 girls, Under 14 boys and Under 15 girls. Our under 9 girls got the winning under way with silver. It was silver also for the under 11 girls - lost out on gold by 1/100th [...]

May 25 More Good News


Two of our athletes - one senior, one juvenile - reported good results today. Senior, Cliodhna Manning, guesting with St Abbans ac at the European Club Championships in Tampere in Finland garnered nine points for the team with a win in the 400m in 54.33. Juvenile, Alex Cullen, was our sole representative at the Leinster Combined Events in Greystones. Hitting PBs in four of his five events (75m hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot) he won the U14 silver.

May 24 T&F Shield Safely Won


KCH juvenile athletes continued their winning way on Day 3 of the county t&f championships in Scanlon Park tonight. With high points achieved over the first two days and many more tonight the Juvenile Track and Field stays with KCH for another year. There were some excellent results by the boys and girls u8,9,10 and 11. Then came the hurdles where KCH were dominant. Later we had the 1500s where again our older juveniles were superb. Included among many excellent performances were a number of "clean sweeps" - Under 11 300m with Patrick Lacey, Paul Millea  and Tiernan O'Brien 1st, [...]

May Of Many Qualifications


May is frequently associated with third level exams. But this May some of our athletes were concerned with qualifications of a different kind. Aoife Richardson qualified for the European under 23 track and field in Sweden - July 11th to 14th. Cliodhna Manning was selected for the World University Games in Italy - 8th to 13th July and Callan Byrne obtained selection for CSIT World Sports Games in Spain 2nd to 7th July.

May 19 And So to The League


KCH Men were in Templemore today for Round 1 of the National League. Strictly speaking it was KCH and others as five KCH members had the team augmented with Ciaran Coady, Brow Rangers and Jordan Knigh, St Joseph's guesting for the club. So with seven on the team they competed in eleven events - considering everything they did well. Brendan Hyland was the star with 1st in Shot and 3rd in Javelin. May 19 Maher to the Fore Once More


Brian Maher returned to competion today for the Stoneyford 10K. And it was the usual Brian giving it 110% to take first place ahead of a competitive Raheny runner who was keen to take the spoils.  The club had in excess of twenty members taking part. In addition to Brian being the overall winner Caitriona Fennelly was  second lady.

May 15 & 18 Leinster Schools


KCH were well represented by athletes from the local secondary schools at this year's Leinster track and field held over two days Wednesday and Saturday. St Kierans College were stong in the mid distance races with all athletes scoring personal bests in their respective events. Shay McEvoy took the gold in the senior 1500m (3.54.95). Also in senior were Kevin Burns, 4/Steeplechase(6.23.70), LukeWhelan 10/5000(17.16.43). Intermediate John Muldowney 7/3000 (9.51.84), Cathal Kearney 7/800 (2.09.29),  Junior - Tom Lodge 2/1500 (4.24.49), Minor - Sean Young 7/800 (2.33.38). May 12 Another Good Day


The second day of the County Track and Field was another good day for KCH. Many medals were won but it was the weather and the turnout that made the day enjoyable for us all. Some seventy individual medals were won and the relay teams were a joy yo watch - seven teams won gold, two took silver and three got bronze. The relay result means 48 of our juveniles got a medal by being a member of a team.
