These last few days have seen a lot of action on the roads around the country. KCH sampled three of these and turned in many great runs including a raft of PBs.  This was particularly evident at the Dunboyne 10K on Sunday where Callum Barron took first place in 31.58. Eamomn O'Connor scored a fine PB of 33.59. Other PBs came from Darragh Stone 39.03, Fergus Horan 39.12 and Tomaz Jarzabek 39.30.  At the Kilsheelin 10M on ST Patrick's Day Rory Conlon had a PB of 1.06.58 while Matthew Warren finished in 1.16.14. Mar 17 Streets of Portlaoise

Cathal O'Reilly took first place in today's 5k Streets of Portlaoise road race in 14.44. Among the other finishers were Sean Delaney, Orla McPhillips, Mike O'Shaughnessy, Paula Hynes and Bridget Rochford.

Mar 14/15 A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER

This weekend was a joy for all in KCH or indeed for anyone associated with the club or having an interest in athletics. It started with the U20's national indoors with Molly Daly (400m) and Pia Langton (1500m). Both won gold in their respective events, set new championship records and in the process qualified for the World juniors. That was on Saturday. Mar 7/8 Schools CC-Colleges T&F – Road

With the Leinster Schools CC taking place on 27th Feb it was a quick turn around for today's All-Ireland with travel to Belfast. Loreto had star performers in Emily O'Keeffe, 18th in Intermediate, and senior girls Hazel Coogan and Evelyn McEvoy, 35th and 60th respectively, helping the team to the gold medals.  Borris Vocational had Daniel Greene winning bronze in The Minor race and Tom Murphy placing 30th in the senior race. Ellen Daly made a fine entrance to the senior ranks when competing in the National Senior Indoors in Abbottstown. Taking part in the 200m she clocked an excellent time of 25.70. Her older and more experienced sister, Molly, also had excellent results winning silver in the 200m final in 24.07. Pia Langton also made the podium. Making the 800m final she ran it in 2.09.19 to win bronze.  In the longer races Cathal O'Reilly placed 10th in the 1500m final in 3.52.58. In the 3000m Ruairi McEvoy clocked 8.48.84 while Will Fox finished in 8.56.59.

A great crowd turned out for the club’s annual awards presentation which was held in The Pembroke Hotel. 2025 proved a very successful year for the club. Club Chairperson, Nicholas Dunphy, welcomed all to the awards and thanked the athletes for their dedication and achievements during the past year. He thanked  all the coaches, managers, club officers and the parents for their ongoing support of the athletes and the hotel for hosting our event.  The citations were delivered by Sean Lynch while Club Registrar, May Hutt, assisted the chairperson with the presentation. Feb 14/15 All Action St Valentine’s WE

While last weekend was relatively quiet this weekend was anything but with action in many quarters.  The Leinster Juvenile Indoors in Athlone provided the major source of that action. KCH with fifty plus athletes involved had a very successful championship with in excess of twenty medals returning home. There was gold for Aaron Tyrell (U13 - 600); Cillian Maher U13 -walk)Daniel McIntyre (U13 - long jump); Daniel Greene (U15 800); Kyrell Mtinsi (U18 - 800); and Molly Daly  (U19 - 400 CBP). Feb 08 A Quiet Weekend

Competitionwise this was a relatively quiet weekend. Just one on the Indoor Track - Alex Cullen guesting at the National League finished second in his heat with a PB of 22.01 for the 200m. Three runners were out in the open air. Katie Mullan took on the Sli Chorcai Ultra 65 Kms which has an elevation of 1963m. Her stamina brought her home in 10hrs 26ms. Nearer home two went in the Graiguenamanagh Rolling hills. Gretta Beckett was 4th female in the 5K (25.35) while James Murphy did the 10K in 42.42.
